This blog is not dead (and neither am I), even if I haven’t updated in a while.
Still in Tokyo, on my private-turned-business (…) -trip. Check あめぶろ for that.
The main reason for prolonging my stay were of course the SMAP-cons and after those I’m flying back to Europe this weekend.
So prepare yourselves for some updating.
This is, however, the beginning of SMAP-mediaSPAM (pun intended).
Performance-clips from SxS since May (where I had to leave off because of the crazy schedule. Info about me doing summaries in the future coming up).
2008.05.19 SMAP & 青山Thelma – Special Medley (Lion Heart & そばにいるね)

The sensation of 2008, pretty and talented Thelma proceeds to SmaSma.
Wonderful, touching and so much emotion.
Kimutaku’s takeover SoulJa’s rap-part is so soft and heart-melting…

2008.05.26 SMAP & ABBA Gold – Special Medley (Mamma Mia; Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!; Dancing Queen)

ABBA Gold are one of the most known ABBA-tribute bands in Europe.
Shiny, glittery and so 70s ![]()
If you’re from Sweden like me or just know ABBA otherwise, notice the epic failures in the displayed lyrics ^^

2008.06.02 SMAP & Mariah Carey – Special Medley (Hero, Touch My Body)

Japan loves the Diva, and the Diva loves SmaSma. Full versions of both songs.

2008.06.09 SMAP & 水谷豊 – California Connection

Mizutani-san is a true sweetheart, and being a huge SmaSma-fan he totally shone in the intro-talk before this performance ^^

2008.06.16 SMAP & Perfume – Polyrhytm & electro-version of 夜空ノムコウ

Insanely cute. Perfume made their big break recently, and even if they’re (or well, at least the majority of them) complete airheads, very amusing.
I swear Nakai would fit in there ![]()
The electromix of 夜空ノムコウ surprised me, but flowed very well in the end.
You get an mp3 of that, because it’s quite nice.

As for those waiting for my reply to comments/PMs/emails, please be patient for a few more days.
I’ll be sure to get back to you soon.
Thank you. ♥

Lionheart..Thelma.
I have always wondered if anyone else has also noticed Kimura’s ability with both barmonies and in particular descant. He accompanies the singer here so gentlywith his descant and it is really almost indistinct not to distract. He is a real musician even tho he says they can’t read music.
Love it…

Comment by Peggy September 28, 2008 @ 3:26 amWell, it’s more of a habit for Japanese to say that they can’t do this and can’t do that, even if they could.
He certainly has his moments, but I’d say every member of SMAP have an inner musical switch and when that is turned on, they surprise us.
Kimura is, one of the most stable voices in the group anyway and can easily adapt his voice. Something that not even all the pro-pro singers (hmm.. does that make any sense? I mean musicians that are purely focused in singing) have got the hang of.
I get almost sparkly when noticing any of the members doing natural adaptations, let it be in music or on stage (:
