np. Acid Black Cherry – Shining On, 君が哀しい

SMAPxSMAP from Monday, January the 28th. I’m a bit later than usual. Let’s blame megaupload, that didn’t want to let me upload the clips. Summary and caps were done already on Monday.
With a hilarious Jane Birkin, confused and grinning Nakai, terrified Tsuyoshi, amused Kimutaku and a lot more crack-entertainment. Think this was the funniest bistro for quite a while. I’d warmly recommend watching the whole show.
Comments, caps and clips (at the bottom of this post) ahoy!
Also, a little warning because I actually give away the bistro-winners in this summary (I’m sorry, but it is kind of a very important part in here that follows).

Jane Birkin is a French icon, who like.. radiates pure “europeanity”.
It’s sad I never took more French-lessons, so I mostly hung onto the Japanese subs and the translator ;) And didn’t get half what she actually was sayin since the subs covered just a bit. The talk is about the design-bags however.
And they do go through her very nice Hermes-bag. Nakai becomes a bag-boy :D
No ipod, not even an MD or mp3.. but a cassette-player.. Celebrities do indeed have weird habits!
aleynacap

And I was terribly disappointed that Kimutaku wouldn’t kiss her hand when they greeted. The man is usually always so smooth. Pfft.
But she was lovely talking animatedly “downstairs” and during the tasting. I bet the boys were all thinking “..what a weird woman” ;)
Actually, Kimutaku and Nakai looked very amused throughout, Tsuyoshi indeed kind of scared, Shingo was pretty comfortable and Goro clearly surprised (but seemed so in a positive way!).
Order: More lively Europeans to the show!
aleynacap

I went all smiley when Kimutaku was preparing the dessert and went “It’s really hot” and giving one of his intense stares.
Major :D for Shingo this time.. He was trying to say “Je t’aime”, but it came more out like.. “Jetlag”.. (I’m sorry; I totally lost it at this point).
aleynacap

I love it, how after the kisses Nakai’s all smug and pokes Kimutaku by saying “There’s still something more coming”.
A fight! :D I wonder if any female guest to-date has been diving in the midst of the guys shouting “break it up, break it up!”.
aleynacap

And Kimutaku is nosey enough to say that it might not suit his manly character to go out on streets with a fine bag like this.
So what does Jane Birkin do? She tries to muss the bag up!
*giggles*
And Kimutaku’s constant “oi, oi, oi!”..
Finally, Shingo is devastated for the loss of his team and the bad things that happened to the Birkin-bags, but he makes a miracle-recovery very soon.

Oh my, this bistro wins. If someone can’t download via torrent, I can make a clip of that last part, because it is HILARIOUS! Just leave me a PM at the forum, mail or a small note here.

‘ニワさん’. And as they promised last week, the real 美輪明宏 [Miwa Akihiro] is there. I made a clip, because this is funny. Check the end of the post!

Intro CCB.
Kimutaku in the board again ^^
And Yes, it was DEEN’s debut single 『このまま君だけを奪い去りたい』 [Kono Mama Kimi Dake wo Ubaisaritai] from 1993.
This song is something _beyond to explain_. Watch this clip here @ Youtube and you see why I would have totally teared up and sniffled loudly if Goro wasn’t there making me smile during this.
Awesome. Totally awesome.
As it was there, in 2008 DEEN celebrate their 15th anniversary. *sighs*

Kamikami-Channel. I think we all know what this is about. Though, Tsuyoshi had some nice saves in there this time!

Musical guest. 奥田民生 [Okuda Tamio]. He’s got a live-tour (Fantastic Tour 08) coming up, starting from February. And here we go with a rock-medley collaboration, titled “FantaSMAP Live”.
Includes the following songs: 愛のために [Ai no Tame ni] from 1994, 無限の風 [Mugen no Kaze] from 2007, さすらい [Sasurai] from 1998.

Um.. Kimutaku is jamming around, Goro’s and Shingo’s clothes are just worth an *eyepalm*, Nakai’s voice.. yeah, and Tsuyoshi’s hip-moves… major :D .
I’ve never been really a fan of Okuda, but like rock in general. Clip follows.

Alright. The download-links to clips.
People clearly don’t bother reading the blog-rules, so I’m going to mention it here too. Feel free to share, that’s why I’m making theses. But if you do (f.e. upload to a streaming-site) LINK me back to this blog. I have no interest to go and watermark them in the future either, so play nice.

Wonderful writeup of this particular Bistro. First time I have seen your blog and appreciate anything re Kimura san or SMAP. the Jane Birken session was marvellous and so funny. I hope they will keep their bags because they are worth about eight to ten thousand US dollars each.I am sure Shizuka willl know the value and want the one Kimura san has.
Thanks again for all your very full description of the show.

Thank you and you’re very welcome (:

I apologize for not replying sooner to this.
This one is probably one of my least-descriptive summaries, but sometimes translating SMAP comes out so weird because you really have to see what it’s all about before you get it.

(This is why it would be wonderful to create a SMAP -fansubgroup! Don’t give me dangerous ideas..)

I was also thinking about Shizuka wanting that bag. I think if she did, she probably scolded Kimutaku for what he said ;)

Just one comment..did you know that the jumping up and down on the bags was J.B showing them how to ‘age’ the leather and make it softer. It’s like gloves used to be. You had to twist and rub leather gloves to make them softer and easier to put on. People don’t wear gloves for dress as they used to. giving away my century here…..

Yes I am aware of the fact how leather needed to be smoothed before.
But it (JB) started in the first place because Kimutaku was worried about his ego (…like some bag, no matter how Birkin or not it is, could ever damage THAT ;) ).

And there’s nothing wrong with being an older fan. Join my boat.
I am glad the SMAP-fandom I am familiar with mostly consists of people 25+.
And the older supporter you are, the more of the early times you remember. I have to confess that aside some random things, I am not that sure about all my facts for the first years of SMAP.

I had a small urge to convent my mother to SMAPping too, but then again, that would be just scary ;)

You should be able to find a lot of clips in youtube a few days after the broadcast.
Just type “SMAPxSMAP” or SMAP and then choose to show the results organized after the date added.

SmaSma sadly doesn’t get subtitled regurarly, and I dislike translating word-to-word so instead I just give a brief description plus a chance to ask for some clear-ups if people don’t understand some parts at all.

There are some subtitled episodes that can be downloaded from the SMAP For U -forum.
Plus when some fangirl-favourites guest in the show, you can see some small segments getting either translations or even subtitles.

The show can be downloaded via DDL from the forum mentioned above and from D-addicts tracker via torrent.

Regarding the age of the SMAP audience – my wife an I were both in our late 40’s when we discovered it a few years back. We watch it every week and have a large collection of older SMAP going back to the first ones.
We just love it!
But I also thought that this Birkin episode was special – hillarious :-)

I am always so happy when I see/meet older SMAP-fans.
It’s so amazing when in SMAP-cons there are grandparents, middle-aged parents, young adults, teenagers and toddlers.
SMAP is a phenomenon indeed (:
