np. TOKIO – 青春 ~SEISYuN~

As requested (begged, bribed and blackmailed), I’ve done something.
TOKIO: 青春 ~SEISYuN~-lyrics (romaji + English translation á aleyna).
It was actually done for BNS, since they wanted to sub the PV and I happened to be around..
Anyway, it’s not exactly a happy-happy-song, but it has a warm and positive message despite it’s slight gloominess. Fits the drama very well, btw.

My single arrived yesterday so it was indeed counted in the preorders.
The debut sales were horrible. Not only for TOKIO, who btw managed to grab the #1-spot nonetheless, but for everyone. After last weeks’ blast it seems that buyers are dead. Or then just maybe it’s been quiet in Tokyo and people all over Japan elsewhere have done some record-shopping.. I wish.

The sales didn’t even vary that much and I don’t think that ERIKA’s ‘Destination Nowhere‘ is either very far away.

-singles- day #1 (28/11)

-singles- day #2 (29/11)
01 TOKIO: 青春 ~SEISYuN~ – 6526 (x1.75) = 11,421 [Seishun]
02 AIDSチャリティProject: RED RIBBON Spiritual Song – 6444 (x1.75) = 11,277
03 Acid Black Cherry: 愛してない – 5680 (x1.75) = 9,940 [Aishitenai]

-albums-
01 小田和正: 自己ベスト-2 – 20429 + 24552 (x1.7) = 76,468 [Oda Kazumasa: Jiko Best 2]
02 Rip Slyme: FUNFAIR – 10748 + 10325 (x1.7) = 35,824
03 WaT: WaT Collection – 7949 + 6492 (x1.7) = 24,550

So TOKIO’s up to 27,955 and ABC 26,322.

For those interested in JE in general, the yearly Countdown is getting closer and closer.
To put everyone in a right mood, fluffy decided to upload the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 Countdown-shows in the JPS-tracker.

They’re worth downloading and watching, if I remember correctly, for the hilarious backstage-footage of 2003-2004 only, let alone then the actual show. Dai-senpais are so cool. I need to go find my 男闘呼組 Best-album right now..
TOKIO is amazing every year, I recommend downloading.

np. Ded Chaplin – Mona Lisa

Ah, time to publish my views of some Jdramas this season.

Galileo has been the leading star when looking at the ratings and the publicity. It’s also got quite nice reviews. Well, something that’s got 福山雅治 [Fukuyama Masaharu] involved in as many ways as Galileo, I don’t think it could go wrong.
The plot isn’t that ‘wow’, actually. I, who have always had a soft spot for the American TV-serie ‘Numb3rs‘, could find Galileo lame. I don’t, though. It’s not maybe worth all the praises it gets, but it’s decent.
Galileo’s finger-thing + counting-scenes are retarded. David Krumholtz beats anyone in being the genius.
For me, any show that has 北村一輝 [Kitamura Kazuki] in them, gets a huge plus. He’s got quite an ok role in here too. Though, I’d love to see him have the lead in a very successful drama soon.
Worth mention is 真矢みき [Maya Miki], who’s trapped in the role of a weird lab-woman.
The guest stars are also very much worth saying a few words. 香取慎吾 [Katori Shingo, who locked the show's highest ratings to-date], 深田恭子 [Fukada Kyoko], 堀北真希 [Horikita Maki], 甲本雅裕 [Kotomo Masahiro]… The list goes on. And I expect them to get a really big shot for the final ep. Waiting for that.

歌姫 [Utahime] has been my highlight of the season, no doubt. The show’s ratings have been very low (most to blame are some big-shot movies that have constantly been airing at the same time with this drama), and I even had my doubts that this might have to undergo the same horrible destiny of Sushi Oji!. I’m glad it didn’t.
長瀬智也 [Nagase Tomoya] is the lead, of course. He gets back-up from 佐藤隆太 [Sato Ryuta] and 大倉忠義 [Ohkura Tadayoshi]. Don’t blink and miss 小池栄子 [Koike Eiko]’s appearance.
The drama started terribly slow, but after the first episode (which was kind of bad and boring) the things sped up and the ‘old golden days’ -universe sets in. The atmosphere of this drama is calming and it gives me constantly reasons to smile. The settings are beautiful and the cast does good job with making them alive. That and the ‘air’ of this drama are the things that make ‘Utahime’ truly stand out this season. The plot isn’t the strongest, but rather than script, this drama plays with the feeling it can create within the wievers.
I am happy that this has gotten quite a few praises among critics.

Yukan Club’s ratings have been sinking (…what have I been telling you ever since the 1st episode? I won’t go back and quote, just figure it out yourself) steadily. Not that it would deserve the 10 it got today either.
Well, it just proves my point that the fangirlism (which is the reason this… “thing” even exists) can’t hold the ratings up if the drama is totally plotless and mostly acted flat. Too bad, that the sad thing’s already done, since the most of the eps have had ratings around 12. Makes me feel really bad.
They’ve been trying to make the show maintain it’s undeserved viewers by some known (?) guest actors. First it was the adorable 忍成修吾 [Oshinari Shugo, who has been in f.e. 太陽の季節 and YTM, now stars in 死化粧師, more of it later in this post], then 小山慶一郎 [Koyama Keiichiro from NEWS], who btw ended up being just as awkward as the show itself; and now Mike He (I actually have seen 惡魔在身邊 [Er Mo Zai Shen Bian], that aired back in 2005 and rather liked it. A typical teen-drama? Definetely yes. But it’s not that bad).
..And a few people actually had the nerve to ask me, why on Earth are the show’s ratings going down.
*sarcastic smile*

死化粧師 [Shigehoshi] wins easily the title of ‘The weirdest drama this year‘. I mean, that if the plot itself would’t be creepy enough, I really fail to understand quite a lot in this drama. The pretty-boy 和田正人 [Wada Masato] has got his first lead role, but frankly does a pretty good job.
And, it’s got 忍成修吾 [Oshinari Shugo]. I am weak for this boy’s works. Hope he’ll get a lead soon.
I really thought about giving up on this drama, but I’m still hanging on.

働きマン [Hataraki Man] hasn’t gotten a lot of praise nor critique. Could the reason be that not really many watch it? The ratings have been approximately 12, so it’s doing fairly good. It is a comedy, and for me it’s really nice to see the relations between love and work, work and love.
I have only watched the first few episodes yet, but I think I’ll get going with this during the winter pause. Or sometime.

Mop Girl is not bad. But it’s so much like the American show Tru Callin’. I didn’t like that one and somehow I don’t think this is my piece of cake, after all.
It, though, has 谷原章介 [Tanihara Shosuke] in it, and that might be a trigger for many to watch. He does excellent work so maybe I’ll end up watching this later. Don’t know though.

Dream Again was so hyped up from the beginning and look where it stands now. Ratings overall under 10. It’s got the same problem with Utahime; some movies that got the ratings over 20, have been airing simultaneously with this. I’ve seen a few episodes and can’t say that this is bad. Actually it’s kind of promising and I’m definetely going to finish it someday.
It doesn’t have any really outstanding people in the cast for me, but it’s easy to say that this isn’t the worst drama this season. Not even close.

Security Police [SP] rides the recent police/detective -wave in Jdrama. With 岡田准一 [Okada Junichi] in the lead, I think the show is ok. It’s nothing special (agents having special abilities is pretty.. used idea already). My start with this drama wasn’t the best possible. Let’s just say that when a note appears on the computer screen, it shouldn’t look like this:

1 new massage !

*eyepalm*
Overall, this is not bad. It’s just generic and the world is filled with better or same-status police-dramas already. Okada does a very nice job, anyway, and the fact that he can hold his messed-up character together and reveal his past and motives bit-by-bit deserves some respect.
And well~, it’s always nice to see men in suits.

Those are the normal dramas I’ve given a try this season. In the end it seems that I’m holding on only with a few of them, thosde being 歌姫, 死化粧師, Galileo and SP.

np. Apocalyptica f. Till Lindemann – Helden

Hmm. As expected.

Singles
01 KAT-TUN: Keep the Faith – 350,863
02 ケツメイシ: 聖なる夜に/冬物語 – 115,520 [Ketsumeishi: Seinaru Yoru ni / Fuyumonogo]
03 EXILE: I Believe – 94,284
04 KOH+: KISSして – 54,639

Albums
01 L’Arc~en~Ciel: KISS – 220,649
02 Aqua Timez: ダレカの地上絵 – 56,837 [Dareka no Chijou e]
03 MINMI: The Love Song Collection 2007-2007 – 32,040

So I predicted KAT-TUN sales right when I said they’d sell around 350k in their first week. What kind of confuses me, is the fact that KOH+ didn’t put up a bigger fight with EXILE. Her song’s got a really good drama tie-in (Galileo), and even if I personally think that the song is nothing special, it should have sold more. And it’s not like ‘I Believe‘ would be an exceptional song.
Oh yeah. The english fansubs for ‘keeptheface‘ are out. Check BNS releases.

As for the other singles, NEWS‘ ‘weeeek‘ is still holding on, taking the weekly #9 with 17,904 copies sold. コブクロ’s ‘蒼く 優しく’ on place #8, selling 20,045.

KISS sold very well, I’m happy for Laruku. I haven’t even given a listen to the album aside for the three singles, but I think I’ll have to buy it sooner or later.

//editto:
Coming up:
- a review and a few caps of ‘しゃばけ’ [Shabake], the fantasy-SP that aired last weekend.
- the usual summary + caps + DL + an extra-clip from SMAPxSMAP from yesterday.

np. ORANGE RANGE – イケナイ太陽 (single version)

So, the SMAPxSMAP of this week.
I made actually two clips because of numerous requests. The one IS the Galileo-skit (which will make you swoon!) and the other the traditional performance-clip, this time with 米米CLUB.
Download-links to be found at the bottom of this post. Enjoy.
//edit: guest-names romanized due to requests//

Bistro-guests give plenty of laughter, as you can guess already when seeing the names.
柳原可奈子 [Yanagihara Kanako, and yes, she's the ever-annoying shop-assistant] and the comedy-duo タカアンドトシ [Taka and Toshi, they're probably most known for the 「欧米か!」-gag :D ].
aleynacap
As for the orders, she wants chocolate dessert (I just mentioned that so I could point out that she doesn’t take herself too seriosly as you see from her next comment), but what it is with men saying they only want to eat “meat”? Some imagination..
aleynacap
…convoy? Whatever.. :D

Since Taka and Toshi have worked within SMAP before (a few weeks ago they were on the show, in com-skit with Tsuyoshi and Shingo), they should be kind of comfortable, but..
aleynacap

And lots of crack follows when they’re in the lower part. Here’s just something:
aleynacap
aleynacap
..and just when I thought that Tsuyoshi would behave himself this time, when he was actually polite.. yeah, you’ll see.

The tasting. A lot of head-hitting insues. Kimutaku is a devil (in disguise?) ^^

Shingo… yeah. He does.
aleynacap
aleynacap

Taka & Toshi throw in a little skit while SMAP is eating. ‘夜空ノムコウ’.. wth?
aleynacap
Omg, what just happened? He doesn’t believe it either.
I’m also like.. *gasp*, and there was a “shock-moment” in the studio also, I swear. A nanosecond of shock before they covered it up.
Because, you know, hitting Kimura Takuya on the head.. is something you just DO NOT do.
Then, they don’t show it, but Kimutaku and Nakai put up a fight during the second round. That’s why Kimutaku is all smug and appears a bit late to sing “his” verse. Boys! :P

Two weeks in a row :D Not that I’d have something against つよしかじり虫.
aleynacap

Galileo-skit (aka ときめき-Meter), for which we can thank one of the cast-members in the mentioned drama, 真矢みき [Maya Miki]. This was so awesome and since I’ve made a clip for you (check down), I won’t spoil it further with caps.
Just saying that I’m so happy Kimutaku has never thought of becoming a detective. No one in that department would get ANY job done. And he so does follow the drama!
My only comment for the skit is: “Kimutaku. Detective outfit. Long bangs. Pick-up lines. Handcuffs.
*flail* (My heart was going “dokidoki” already when he stepped into the room ;) )
aleynacap

khrm.
Time for the musical guests. This time it’s 米米CLUB. (Sme-Sme-Club.. what the? :D )
aleynacap
And I had totally forgotten how gorgeous voice the vocalist has :o
They perform ‘君がいるだけで’, the yet unreleased ‘俺たちの想い’ (tbr. this December), ‘浪漫飛行’ and ‘Shake Hip!‘.
Oh lord the last one.. The boys like.. really shake it ;)
(Someone should forbid Kimutaku doing that ^^. Well, he’s done worse things, but still.)

np. 槇原敬之 – GREEN DAYS

This song is so addicting. Never buy a 槇原敬之-album, remind me ;)

Hmm. Someone asked me about this and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t mentioned it (well, actually I did, a while ago in my other blog but not here) before.
Sens topic Musical Academy and 秋山純 [Akiyama Jun]’s suspension.
I don’t really have the details (someone willing to fill me in, since I really wouldn’t have time to surf around?), but apparently he’s banned from appearing in public because his girlfriend (or whatnot?) published some private pictures of the two of them and details about their relationship in general.
And by “private” I don’t mean anything inappropriate the way we understand it. The way JE then does, is another thing. I heard that one of the photos had a wedding photo -atmosphere and setting and other with the two of them together and Jun shirtless.
As we all know, JE is extremely picky about how much of their private lives the boys (and men) reveal in public and basically JE needs to approve things before they can be said/published.
I would like to get my hands on that “THE rule book” and have a look, someday.

I hope someone (宥希, 久美子? どうぞ.) can fill me in with details.
But have to say that yes, JE is a complicated agency, but just how ignorant must you be to publish that kind of photographs of your boyfriend when you know that it will not do any good?

I really hope Akiyama’ll get it fixed. Wish him luck.
Akiyama Jun

np. Kanjani∞ feat. 国分太一 – Eden (live @ SCP 18.11.07)

Damn that song is beautiful. Taichi is a genius. In case someone didn’t know that.

東方神起 was on Utaban with 倖田來未 yesterday. The boys looked a lot better than last week, when they were pretty much.. dead-tired. Nakai took it pretty easy on them, but the show was funny (as always).
And they also sang a cappella. Right in front of Nakai. I cracked up ^^ The song was Gospellers‘ ‘永遠に’. Very beautiful. And it was indeed nice to have JJ in the lead again (for those who don’t know, Changmin did the lead vocals in a FL-acp a few weeks ago and it was pretty bad, he just doesn’t bind the voices together the way JJ does).
streaming-link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEAgTPneO_c
Gentlemen and heartbreakers.. too mushy, boys! ;)
The performance of LAST ANGEL was the best to-date soundvice. Yunho’s got his voice back, Koda hits the notes, JJ and Junsu do well a always and Changmin surprised me by taking his parts down a notch. Now it’s not annoying but good. Nice!
The rest of the show is incredibly fun too. They play a quiz (Bruce Willis is involved ^^) and.. watch it, you can’t stop laughing.
TOKIO btw performed a short version of ‘青春 ~SEISYuN~’ in the beginning. I made a clip of that.
Streaming-link: http://www.vimeo.com/399017

Okay, the guest list for the Music Station 30/11 aka next week friday.

EXILE – I Believe
奥田民生 – 無限の風 [Okuda Tamio - Mugen no Kaze]
Crystal Kay – Shining
SMAP – 弾丸 Fighter [Dangan Fighter]
東京事変 – 閃光少女 [Tokyo Jihen - Senkou Shoujo]
TOKIO – 青春 ~SEISYuN~ [Seishun]
mihimaru GT – I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY

I’m really glad for the SMAP-appearance. Fighting!

np. Cat Stevens – Morning has broken

Ahem, I apologize for the wait. This was (finally) published on November 27th and as you see, I didn’t even start writing before the 23rd… Busy week.
As for the performance-clip, you can download it from MU-link at the bottom of this post. I will try to upload it for streaming later. Vimeo doesn’t work for me atm. The clip is not watermarked (..I forgot), but I trust people to credit me if spreading the file. Thank you.

The bistro-guest is 東国原 英夫 [Higashikokubaru Hideo, and YES he is the form. comedian, nowadays governor of Miyazaki-ken]. This show included some puns that I wasn’t able to catch, so I apologize for not being able to comment on details. Also the talk-part might be kind of.. ‘uninteresting’ for some, since they discuss mostly the prefecture.
…what is it with wanting to eat Miyazaki’s local delicacies when you’ve come all the way to..? Nice, Nakai ^^
SxS aleynacap

The guys talk about their experiences and impressions about Miyazaki. Someone whack Tsuyoshi for me! (oh, Shingo finally did it!) ;)
SxS aleynacap
It’s weird seeing 東国原 this polite, bowing deeply for the compliments and maintaining the space between SMAP and himself. Well, of course, since he’s a governer now. I’m just used seeing him in things like.. 風雲!たけし城 and other funny.. yeah. Probably that’s just me.
SxS aleynacap
SxS aleynacap

Uh.. well, the Jane Birkin -bit was a bit cheap, but since it had Nakai and an ancient telephone in it, I won’t complain further.
Here comes the crack. つよしかじり虫. I have no words to describe this.
SxS aleynacap

Nakai in セレブAD. I seriously love Nakai no matter what role he plays (or if he doesn’t and is just himself). Except this one. I know most of you find it incredibly funny. To me it’s just so irritating and every time they do it, I just hope it’s going to be over soon.
Well, Nakai always gets the girl. Right, Tsuyoshi? ;)
SxS aleynacap

Intro CCB again, I love this skit. And this time I even had a little hunch about what the song might be!
SxS aleynacap

The artist part.
The guest was James Blunt (known for the unbeliavably annoying hit from two years back, ‘You’re Beautiful’). He’s there to promote his second album, titled ‘ALL THE LOST SOULS’.
And heck, I actually went to check his age after this interview :D
Kimutaku fanboys! I haven’t seen him like this for a while. Absolutely cute ^^
SxS aleynacap
They perform ‘You’re Beautiful‘ and ‘1973‘.

np. コブクロ – 蒼く 優しく

Ok, this’ll be the post that I’ll update with this week’s sales if people want me to keep counting them.
>> day six (26/11) as for now.

Again: (If you really want to quote these and just giving my bloglink isn’t enough, mention and link this blog when you quote. Thank you.)

Singles
01 KAT-TUN: Keep the Faith – 88358 + 51173 + 20553 + 13093 + 8702 + 10590 (x1.75) = 336,821
02 ケツメイシ: 聖なる夜に/冬物語 – 20867 +17656 + 9123 + 6560 +5031 + 6435 (x1.75) = 114,926 [Ketsumeishi: Seinaru Yoru ni / Fuyumonogo]
03 EXILE: I Believe – 20317 + 14599 + 6350 + 4541 + 3136 + 4595 (x1.75) = 93,692

Albums
01 L’Arc~en~Ciel: KISS – 47210 +33224 + 15732 + 13645 +9927 + 13366 (x1.7) = 226,277
02 Aqua Timez: ダレカの地上絵 – 7931 + 8369 + 5173 + 4457 +3546 + 4961 (x1.75) = 58,543 [Dareka no Chijou e]

KISS is doing fairly well.
But dear lord, NEWS’ weeeek is still in top-10. *shocked*
KAT-TUN’s “keeptheface” is selling quite.. big numbers. The composer did a good work (nothing less expected rom 氷室京介, of course. And yes, he’s THE one from Boøwy), but I think the lyricist lost himself somewhere. Either that or the man doesn’t know what ‘Pierrot‘ actually is ;)
Anyway, this single is outselling their latest, 喜びの歌 (released 06/06/07, 1st week sales 300,396, total 371,600).
On the other hand, the KAT-TUN ‘does the JE’ as usual and the sales are dropping fast. As I said already before the release, this will probably sell around somewhat under 400k (maybe 385k) in total.

(..I’m so proud of myself, this post is almost neutral.)

December in Shounen Club

np. 少年隊 – Christmas まで帰らない

SC finally updated the info on their site. If you want the full info, go to the OHP here and scroll down past the list of airing dates and old episode themes.
I don’t normally include this much Juniors in my SC-preview-translation, but it was asked for, so…

Don’t quote any part(s) of this translation/summary without permission. Give the link around instead. Thank you.

On December 2nd (02/12) the theme is as lame as ‘2007′, which leads the episode to focus around the hits of this year.
The special guests are 山下智久 [Yamashita Tomohisa] aka Yamapi and 錦戸 亮 [Nishikido Ryo] of NEWS. They perform NEWS’s latest hit single ‘weeeek‘ with Koyama and then later Ryo performs his solo from NEWS‘ latest tour and album, ‘code‘.
Then we get Hey!Say!Whatever. They’ll apparently perform all their (*cough*) three songs, those being ‘Ultra Music Power’, ‘Too Shy’ and ‘Star Time’.
Juniors gather for ‘Johnny’s 2007 hit medley’, which includes for example songs ‘HONEY BEAT‘ (V6), ‘Keep the Faith‘ (KAT-TUN), ‘X ~ダメ~’ (Tackey & Tsubasa), ‘ズッコケ男道’ (Kanjani∞), 青春 ~SEISYuN~ (TOKIO, tbr. 28.11.07 so don’t worry if you don’t recognize it yet), ‘Love So Sweet‘ (嵐), ‘BRAND NEW SONG‘ (KinKi Kids) and ‘星をめざして’ (NEWS) a.s.o..
Kis-My-Ft2 does ‘Fire Beat‘. No comment for that one.
And wow, we get Johnny’s Intro Quiz again? Hopefully Kawai gets to participate. Yay for the excellent Junior League -choice anyway!

As for December 9th (09/12) the theme is set to be ‘願い’ [negai, which means 'wish', 'request' etc].
The special guests are the same as last week. Yamapi, Ryo and Koyama perform ‘Change the World‘ (the CM-song that also appeared on NEWS‘ latest album). Later on Yamapi performs his solo song from the latest concert tour and album; ‘ゴメンネ, Juliet‘.
Then it’s Hey!Say!Whatever’s (a part of HSW is still HSW ;) ) new song ス・リ・ル [thrill].
Time for the 願い-medley. It includes ‘夢物語’ (Tackey & Tsubasa), ‘Real Face‘ (KAT-TUN), ‘Believe Your Smile‘ (V6), ‘It’s My Soul‘ (Kanjani∞), ‘WISH‘ (嵐), ‘永遠に’ (KinKi Kids).
In ‘The Letters‘ we have 塚田僚一 aka Tsuka-chan from A.B.C. and 淀川由浩 of Question?.
Then we get A.B.C.’s new song ‘Crush‘ and Question?’s ‘Beautiful Mind
They’ll go through the happenings in the Jr. League during the past year (oh the joy!) and then we get all the kids to sing NEWSDREAMS.

Shounen Club Christmas Special on December 23rd (23/12) is something totally else then, as expected! To put is short, they look back in the year 2007.
The special guests are Tackey and Yara. They will also air the PV of the Special Dance Unit for the first time! Not forgetting the ‘making of’-part either. Look forward to it, since I think and believe that we’ll get a lot of Senga-stupidness and Tackey/Yara -reactions to them :D
They have the trad. ‘Christmas messages from senpais’ including of course Tackey & Tsubasa, KAT-TUN, Kanjani∞, NEWS.

Oh well. It seems that we can expect quite nice shows this December, doesn’t it? ;)

new SMAP-single + sales

SMAP is (f.i.n.a.l.l.y) releasing a new single.
After the ‘Mermaid-thingy’ last spring I almost lost my hope.
The single, 弾丸ファイター [Dangan Fighter] is set to be released on December 19th and it’s a theme song for TV Asahi’s baseball olympics -program.
Yay for that.
But it’s not all. According to CDJapan (..if their facts would for once be accurate!) the B-side is a ‘christmassy song‘. I’d love that. Can’t wait to hear some more news of this.
The news I was watching also mentioned that there’s a big possibility that SMAP’ll appear on Kouhaku, performing the new single since Nakai’s the host and all. I certainly hope so!

And the 1st day-sales because someone asked..

I wanted to sigh after seeing the sales of ‘keeptheface‘. weeeek sold 112,119 on it’s first day.
What else? KOH+’s ‘KISSして‘ debuted #4. If someone doesn’t know, the song is the theme song for the really popular drama ‘Galileo‘. It’s done completely by 福山雅治. Quite nice song, and with this drama-tie-in I suppose it’ll sell quite well.
I played with the thoughts of EXILE and KOH+ competing about weekly #3. We’ll see how that goes.
東方神起 is btw already out of top-35. No wonder, the song is horrid (read: boring).

Albums are as expected, no surprises.
